The Insider Ownership and Insider Transactions snapshots highlight the ownership and trading history of the insiders within a public organisation. This can include executives, board members, founders, and more.

Insiders are the people closest to a public company — executives, board members, founders, and other key stakeholders. Tracking what they own and how they're trading can be a valuable signal in fundamental research. Heavy insider buying can suggest confidence in near-term prospects; significant selling may tell a different story.

Insider Ownership

The Insider Ownership snapshot highlights up to the top 20 largest insider owners of a public company. The table displays the name and title of the insider, ordered by largest ownership.

Each row includes:

  • Market Value — the total value of the insider's stake
  • % of Market Cap — the insider's ownership as a proportion of the company's total market cap
  • Shares Held — the raw share count
  • Position Date — the date of the most recent filing from which this data is sourced

Data is sourced from Capital IQ by S&P and covers public companies globally.

Insider Transactions

The Insider Transactions tab shows up to two years of transaction history for a given company, presented as both a chart and a filterable table.

The chart summarises acquisition and disposal activity over time, with time period controls spanning 1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y, and 2Y. Running totals for acquisitions, disposals, and net activity are shown in the header.

  • Insider Name & Title: The name and title of the insider.
  • Transaction Type: The nature of the transaction. Koyfin maps raw transaction types into 8 buckets, each classified as either an Acquisition or Disposal, as per the below table. We exclude Intent to Sell and Issuer Transactions.
  • Category: Classifies each transaction as an Acquisition or Disposal based on the transaction type above.
  • Transaction Date: The date the transaction occurred. In the raw filings, the transaction date is is often provided as a range. Koyfin uses the latest date from that range.
  • Shares Transacted: The number of shares involved in the transaction.
  • % of Shares Transacted: The percentage of shares involved in the transaction. For example, if an insider disposed of 5,000 shares and has 15,000 remaining, this represents 25% of the insider's share count.
  • Transaction Value: The market value of the transaction. Note that Koyfin receives all insider transactions in USD, thus ex-US insider transactions are converted to the appropriate currency as of the FX rate on the transaction date. As a result, the values of ex-US insider transactions will be approximations and may not match the raw filing.
  • Shares Owned: The remaining number of shares the insider owns as a result of the transaction.
  • Form Type: The SEC form type from which the data was initially shared to the public.

Data for insider transactions comes from Capital IQ by Standard and Poor's and is global in coverage. The transactions table is limited to up to 2 years of history.

Currency

Both tabs include a currency toggle, allowing you to view values in the stock's primary listing currency or convert to an alternative. For non-US insider transactions, values are converted using the FX rate on the transaction date and are approximations — they may not match the raw filing exactly.

Where to find it

Both tabs are available within the Ownership snapshot (OWN) on any stock page, alongside Institutional Ownership. Insider Ownership and Insider Transactions are available on Plus plans and above.
