Sync Model Portfolios from Orion
We've added support for syncing Model Portfolios from Orion. Once connected, your firm’s models import automatically and update daily, so portfolio analysis and proposals always reflect your current allocations in Orion.
Imported models appear on the Model Portfolios homepage alongside your existing models, with Orion listed in the Source column.
Enable Model Portfolio sync
You can sync Client Portfolios and Model Portfolios through a single Orion connection.
- If you're connecting to Orion for the first time: Go to Settings > Integrations, click Connect on the Orion tile, and sign in to Orion. Then choose whether to import Client Portfolios, Model Portfolios, or both.
- If Orion is already connected: Go to Settings > Integrations and enable Model Portfolios on the Orion tile. You won't need to reconnect your account.
Your first import starts automatically and usually takes a few minutes.
What gets imported
Koyfin imports each supported Orion model available to your account, including its name, holdings, and target weights.
The following models aren't supported:
- SMA models
- Models built from other models (sleeves)
- Models with allocations totalling 0%
Koyfin matches holdings to US-listed securities. Any holding that can't be matched is imported as cash at the same weight, preserving the model's overall allocation.
How daily sync works
Koyfin syncs your imported models with Orion once a day.
- Weight changes: When you update a model's weights in Orion, Koyfin creates a new allocation period dated on the day of the sync. Previous periods remain unchanged, allowing you to track how the model's allocation evolves.
- Deleted models: Models removed from Orion remain in Koyfin but no longer sync.
Orion doesn't provide historical allocations, so a model's allocation history starts from its first import. You can add earlier allocation periods in Koyfin if you want to include historical weights.
Edit imported models
You can edit imported models in Koyfin, including their name, benchmark, start date, initial investment, rebalance frequency, and advisor fee. These settings are preserved during daily sync.
Initial investment, rebalance frequency, and advisor fee use Koyfin's default values when imported, since Orion doesn't provide them at the model level.
Orion remains the source for current portfolio weights. Any changes you make to the current allocation in Koyfin will be overwritten during the next daily sync. Allocation Type is fixed to weights for imported models.
Turn off Model Portfolio sync
To stop syncing, go to Settings > Integrations and disable Model Portfolios on the Orion tile.
You can turn sync back on at any time to resume daily updates.
